DE was offi­cially incor­po­rated in 2006 in Mon­treal, Que­bec. How­ever, the idea for the com­pany goes back to the early child­hood of the founder, David Oswald. An avid inter­est in the envi­ron­ment from an early age set the stage for the devel­op­ment of this com­pany. For­mal edu­ca­tion at the Uni­ver­sity of Water­loo, Royal Roads Uni­ver­sity, and McGill laid the foun­da­tion for the basis of DE. Prac­ti­cal expe­ri­ence work­ing in soft­ware engi­neer­ing, robot­ics design, muti­me­dia pro­duc­tion, envi­ron­men­tal research in the Ama­zon, and con­tent direc­tion for sci­ence cen­tres gave the cred­i­bil­ity to launch the company.

The result of this evo­lu­tion is DE Design and Envi­ron­ment Inc — an envi­ron­men­tal con­sul­tancy and design ate­lier that works around the world. Input from the team at the Cen­tre for Enter­prise and Inno­va­tion of Mon­treal has helped incu­bate and organ­i­cally develop the com­pany to where it is today.

DE is now reg­u­larly fea­tured in the media and is called upon by gov­ern­ments, non-government orga­ni­za­tions, and lead­ing cor­po­ra­tions world wide to give input on issues that require their spe­cial­ized skills in design and envi­ron­men­tal science.
