DE was present for Montreal’s La maison du développement durable or The Center for Sustainable Development’s open house on the week of October 17–21. DE President David Oswald and Marketing Coordinator Larissa Milo-Dale attended the first official guided tour presented by building architect Ricardo Leoto, preceded by a visit to the on-site booth showcasing local, organic vegetables available to Montrealers through Equiterre’s food basket delivery programmes.

The Center is a non-profit organization that unites eight sustainable development business leaders under the same roof. The project was instigated by Montreal’s Equiterre and the five-storey building is now aspiring for LEED Platinum certification – which, if achieved, will be the first in Canada. From the green roof to the geothermal energy generators, this project marks a significant feat for Montreal’s strides in sustainable architecture and development and supports the building’s mission to inspire everyone from property developers to the general public to embrace sustainability.

Stay tuned to DE for an upcoming Insight on this project!
