The DE team has won the logo design for the United Nations 2016 International Day of Biodiversity. The DE design was selected from over 40 submissions and has been praised for how it captures the theme of: Mainstreaming of Biodiversity – Sustaining People and their Livelihoods (https://www.cbd.int/idb/2016/logo.shtml).
“We strived to simplify and capture the complexity of human-nature interactions and the connection between sustainable livelihoods and the need for biodiversity conservation. We are happy that we hit the mark for the UN. It’s a pleasure to work with such talented and compassionate people on this very important global issue” said Matthias Tschannett, DE Creative Director.
The IBD is an important initiative of the United Nations to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. It is held every May 22nd, to commemorate the adoption of the text of the UN CBD. There are alarming threats to species and ecosystems with a rate of human-caused species extinction that continues to rapidly increase. A shift to sustainability is needed in order to preserve our natural heritage and valuable ecological assets for present and future generations.
