The MGI-DE consortium conceptualized, designed, and implemented a NEIS (National Environmental Information System) for the government of Saint Lucia. The NEIS is intended to help Saint Lucia improve their capacity for reporting to environmental MEA’s (Multi-Lateral Environmental Agreements)
The project was funded by the GEF (Global Environmental Facility) and executed for Saint Lucia with UN Environment overseeing implementation.
DE served as the analytical lead on the data and indicators as they relate to UNFCCC, UNCCD, and UNCBD policy and reporting objectives. MGI led the technical design and implementation of the system.
The system was launched with great enthusiasm and national pride as this is one of the first platforms of its kind. See the launch-day press here.
The NEIS facilitates environmental reporting to the UN for any country. Our team is now seeking to implement similar systems in other countries to help organize and improve national environmental reporting globally.
