Analysis of status of regulatory frameworks for GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions, carbon markets, and green technology development leading to an environmental strategy for GHG emissions.
DE was asked to research the different carbon markets — both voluntary and regulated — and to provide a summary of their status and relevance to the energy sector. The Western Climate Initiative, the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, voluntary carbon markets, and the regulated European Emmissions Trading System (EU-ETS) were key focused on. Proposed regulatory frameworks and trading schemes in North America were also analyzed.
