The BDA Foun­da­tion and DE are work­ing to con­serve the Con­golese rain forests and enhance the liveli­hoods of peo­ple there through BDA’s ‘eco­pre­neur’ project.

All hands on deck! This is a call to all engaged young peo­ple want­i­ng to make a dif­fer­ence for the envi­ron­ment — we need your help in our fund­ing cam­paign for eco­log­i­cal entre­pre­neurs in the Demo­c­ra­t­ic Repub­lic of the Con­go. From June 22 to July 31, 2014, you can be part of a social media effort on this world- class project. The posi­tions are flex­i­ble, part time, and vol­un­teer-based and can be done from any­where in the world where you have an inter­net con­nec­tion. This is a great oppor­tu­ni­ty to get expe­ri­ence in inter­na­tion­al sus­tain­able devel­op­ment. If you are inter­est­ed email:

Call for Vol­un­teers: Social Media Cam­paign — 40 days to sup­port Sus­tain­able Devel­op­ment in the DRC!

BDA-USA Foun­da­tion (https://www.bdausa.org/) is look­ing for ener­getic and glob­al­ly engaged vol­un­teers to assist in our first online fundrais­ing cam­paign! If you share our pas­sion in glob­al devel­op­ment and are look­ing to join a fun, fast paced, dynam­ic team with excel­lent inter­na­tion­al expo­sure to Amer­i­can and emerg­ing mar­kets, we are announc­ing a very excit­ing oppor­tu­ni­ty.

Fundrais­ing Goals:

BDA-USA Foun­da­tion is a start-up based out of Cal­i­for­nia that sup­ports the VAMPEEM Project cur­rent­ly under­way in the Demo­c­ra­t­ic Repub­lic of Con­go. The project trains and devel­ops a future gen­er­a­tion of African eco­log­i­cal entre­pre­neurs. These “eco­pre­neurs” cul­ti­vate, har­vest and process high­ly val­ue-added plants, known as botan­i­cals, for sale to local, region­al and inter­na­tion­al mar­kets. There are already 5 eco­pre­neurs who have grad­u­at­ed from the train­ing pro­gram and are ready to launch their busi­ness­es!

From June 22 — July 31st, this cam­paign will seek to lever­age an online crowd-fund­ing plat­form, Crow­dRise, to raise $25K. The mon­ey raised will be used to facil­i­tate men­tor­ing and devel­op­ment by indus­try experts to ensure the long-term suc­cess and sus­tain­abil­i­ty of the eco-enter­pris­es. Suc­cess­ful can­di­dates will gain expo­sure to emerg­ing mar­kets, and com­mu­ni­ca­tions, mar­ket­ing and PR expe­ri­ence as well as a junior man­age­ment titles for their resume.

Posi­tion 1 — Social Media Coor­di­na­tor

In coor­di­na­tion with the BDA-USA team, the Social Media Coor­di­na­tor will ensure the time­ly release of rel­e­vant and engag­ing con­tent through Twit­ter and tra­di­tion­al email chan­nels. The coor­di­na­tor should ensure that tar­get­ed pro­files are being engages appro­pri­ate­ly and with time­ly respons­es. This posi­tion will require 2–3 hours of work through­out the day, depend­ing on the can­di­dates lev­el of orga­ni­za­tion and expe­ri­ence.

The Coor­di­na­tor will work close­ly with all oth­er posi­tions to pro­vide feed­back on which tech­niques and pro­files are respond­ing best, in order to adapt the cam­paign as it evolves.

Posi­tion 2 — Con­tent Devel­op­er

The Con­tent Devel­op­er will work with the BDA-USA Team to ensure that rel­e­vant con­tent is mined, cre­at­ed and for­ward­ed to the Social Media coor­di­na­tor. Ide­al­ly, the cam­paign will fea­ture a “Tweet of the Day” specif­i­cal­ly tar­get­ing one of the major phil­an­thropic sources in the Unit­ed States mar­ket: i.e. Pover­ty Alle­vi­a­tion, Health, Envi­ron­ment.

The con­tent will range from a sin­gle line “Did you know that hunger killers more peo­ple than AIDS, Malar­ia, and TB Com­bined. You can help by fol­low­ing the link.…” to retweets from pro­filed users; to ques­tions and open end­ed tweets to engage our twit­ter audi­ence with respons­es, fol­low-up ques­tions and com­ments.
